I offer guitar lessons in-person in Toronto, as well as online via Zoom or Google Meets. Although I primarily teach classical guitar repertoire, I can teach a variety of syles, and offer specialized courses in guitar technique, sight-reading, and fretboard harmony. I have successfully prepared my students for university auditions, RCM exams, and competitions, and offer a highly goal-oriented approach to teaching. All ages and ability levels are welcome!
"Simon is an excellent teacher. I started my guitar lessons with him when I was 8 years old and he was the one who introduced me to the world of classical guitar. His lessons were fun, enjoyable, and fulfilling. When teaching, Simon found pieces that I liked and suited my level. He always encouraged me to perform at my best. I made amazing progress during my time studying with Simon." - Adrian, guitar student
"Simon was the first real guitar teacher I ever had, and his influence on my playing was enormous. He introduced me to many new concepts and ideas on the guitar, and helped me explore these ideas in a musical context. Simon also worked hard to prepare me for the pursuit of music at a post-secondary level, and I was impressed with many of the important skills I was able to develop while I was studying with him. My guitar playing absolutely improved by a very significant amount because of Simon. He is an excellent teacher." - Alex, guitar student
"I've been playing guitar for over 20 years and, like many guitarists, most of my learning has been unstructured and informal. In recent years, I found my playing had stagnated and I was losing interest in composing. I started taking lessons with Simon about six months ago with a view to improving my theory knowledge and learning a new style. Simon very quickly helped me to identify the gaps in my knowledge and prepared a teaching plan to address them. He has also helped me to improve my playing technique, breaking some bad habits and introducing new techniques. From this learning has come a renewed enthusiasm for playing and desire to continually improve. I would absolutely recommend Simon to any intermediate or advanced player looking to improve or gain a new perspective, regardless of age. He has a deep knowledge of the instrument and of music in general and, despite being a top tier player, he is patient and humble in his approach." - Jeremy, guitar student
"For anyone in search of a great guitar instructor, look no further than Simon. He is highly knowledgeable and experienced yet also has a very approachable and caring personality. Simon has taught me many valuable lessons regarding technique, fretboard harmony, and repertoire. His teaching style is a culmination of the various acclaimed guitarists he has studied under. Being such a well versed musician, Simon is one of those teachers you will be glad you studied under." - Nathan, guitar student
